July 2nd Meeting Report
We had a good meeting with 8 in attendance. On the Agenda, Martin Torres was to be presenting his experiences with using Bacula, an community driven cross platform backup solution. http://www.bacula.org/en/ Don't let the "network" based word scare you away from learning about this backup solution. Martin had some problems with his Bacula installation/configuration so he couldn't show it. We did spend about 90 minutes in discussion on serveral topics of interest. Clint espoused on the current status of Fedora 11, broken. More...
We also talked about how Linux Mint 7 is a great replacement for Windows and ease of use, several present had shared their experiences in using this to move friends and family members to Linux. We talked about what a pig Windows 7 is with its 16GB minimum install hard disk space requirement and that the folks in Redmond were giving away the Ultimate RC1 download but not offering any pre-release deal on it but the were on the "lesser" versions of Home and Professional (Business).
And towards the end of the meeting, we talked about Firefox crashing on some systems but nothing was definitive there, couple of us have not experienced any problems with it, some will occassionally see an error go by during close, one or two have consist errors in shutting down.
I am looking for member presentations at our meetings. If you have something for the August or September meetings, please email me at c_tinsley at msn.com. Thanks.
