LUG Meeting Notes Meeting April 2nd

We had a good turnout and a great meeting Thursday night where we spent a good two hours with author and member Ken McConnell in not only discussing his book, Null_Pointer, but also many aspects of writing and getting published. Ken sent along the following links from the evening: His web presence. ken.mcconnell@gmail.com I'm on GTalk. @kenmcconnell on Twitter @kenmcconnell on identi.ca Open Source Twitter-like protocol Ken McConnell on Facebook I don't hang out there much, but I friend just about anyone. http://myview.w0pht.org My blog. http://nullpointer.ning.com Null_Pointer site. http://starstrikers.ning.com Starstrikers site. Writer Groups http://www.partnersincrimeboise.com/ Mystery writers group http://genrebender.wordpress.com/ Genre writers who are up and coming, but unsold. I started this blog last year and its contributors are from many different genres. http://boisespecfic.wordpress.com/ This is the local SF/F writers group, but most of its members are now posting on GenreBender. After our visit with Ken, Clint mentioned that Fedora 11 Beta was out and he had it running on his laptop this evening as he showed Ken's websites and the book cover. He was very impressed with it as it loaded on his laptop and was very stable for a beta, still two months out from release in late May. RedHat/Fedora is being very unabashed about calling Fedora 11, the future of Linux. http://www.press.redhat.com/2009/03/31/the-future-of-linux-fedora-11-bet... More information can be found in the Release notes at: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_11_Beta_release_notes Thanks to both Ken and all that came for making this a great meeting!
